On Chiquinho: "He is a good player for the present and the future. We also need some good players for now to build the team we want. Jonny is now with us, Pedro (Neto) is a couple of weeks away." #wwfc

No Raul (injured, apparently) so Fabio starts…

We’re playing three central midfielders and Podence up top with Fabio.

Subs: Ruddy, Marcal, Hoever, Giles, Cundle, Jordao, Trincao, Chiquinho, Traore.

I'd have just swapped Raul out for Silva and stuck with 3-4-3 personally.

I guess 3-5-2 was always the plan against them though.

3-5-😴

Puts a lot of responsibility on the front two because the midfield is sorely lacking in any threat. Would've preferred to stick with 343 and back the wide forwards to drop in and provide passing options to overcome the extra Brentford man in the middle. Podence and Silva up against three big centre halves could be asking a lot.

Very happy with that team.

But just in a good mood as my plug came through for me yesterday, so I get to really enjoy the match.

Think the formation has to be a response to the way Norgaard played in the first match.

Last time we played this formation Joao was getting up and down the pitch like he was 25 again. Attacking runs, even.

Donck is a body, but that’s about it. If he’s playing as an 8 then he’s normally more of a hindrance than a benefit and then he’s not even anything special off the ball. Running around a bit when we have none of the ball is about the limit of his uses, but I’d hope we’d have our fair share of possession today.

Still plenty in that team to cause them problems as long as we don’t resort to lumps up front or just slinging in crosses.

I get we were very short on quality for the bench but hopefully a good sign the new signing is straight into the first-team squad.

What are their fans singing in place of “Hey Jude”?

Good stuff so far.
