Leicester 1 - 0 Wolves: Verdict

Only saw the 2nd half (lucky me) but found it pretty enjoyable and refreshing. Plenty to be encouraged by and great to see Raul up top again. Thought we were a bit slack in defence on occasion and let Leicester in when we shouldn't have but they didn't capitalise. Some encouraging attacking play especially that attack where Kilman turned into prime Maradona, what a lovely one two with Raul.

I think we will see some more incomings before the month is out and very encouraging to see Lage's constant shouting and instructions from the bench, not a fan of passive managers - look forward to seeing his reaction when we score our first goal!

All in all, not the predicted thrashing and a good performance (the bit I saw) and looking forward to seeing how we develop going forward. Shame about the result but its early days. Bring on Nuno next week!

Oh and one small thing - those fucking black socks again

We all know we're a work in progress, I don't think we did ourselves a disservice, and it was certainly a more entertaining performance than some last season.

I agree Kilman played well, and Trincao showed a few flashes second half. I think our interplay will hopefully improve as the games progress, I imagine Raul is still feeling his way back in, too.

Some more quality at the back and another CM option should improve us no end, too.

Crosses were poor at times, I'd like to see Semedo in for Hoever ASAP, don't mind Marcal on the left for now. Full backs will be important for us though, hope competition for places serves us well

Poor first half, good 2nd half. Deserved a point. Need better finishing. Not sure what people saw about Jose Sa that made them nervous unless I missed something when my stream dropped out, I thought he was pretty decent. Neves looked absolutely knackered at the end, I think Bruno expects our players to work much more than Nuno did, I’d be surprised if we ended up as the team covering the fewest km like we were last season. Not great today, but not all doom and gloom either. We will win games.

I like Marcal a lot, but playing him at CB seems like begging for a red card.

First off it’s great to get back into a full stadium with ‘real’ fans, and credit to the pack who outsung the happy clappy chappys all game.
Obvious anxiety prematch but the second half we outplayed Leicester and absolutely deserved at least a point
Kilman was impressive and my MOM and actually thought Neves and Mout controlled the midfield when we grabbed hold of the game in the second half and played further forward.
Oh for a bloody clinical striker!

FWIW, you lot outsang the home fans pretty dramatically, at least from what the broadcasts were able to catch.

Was pleased when he subbed Moutinho on 66 minutes.. seems the sensible thing to do with a played of his age, but was a bit disappointed Bruno didn't change up the attacking options on about 75

The only incident I can think would be the deep cross that was headed back and Saiss bollocked away from by the line. No ide if he could get the cross and once he saw Saiss dealing with it he stopped, rather than clattering in to him

Seems like there were some promising signs which I didn't foresee beforehand. Hopefully our second half performance can be replicated on a more consistent and full match basis this time out.

We need to press a bit higher from the get go, and allow the full backs to get forwards.

I think he's using Marcal as more of a defensive wing-back because Semedo/Hoever are expected to get forwards. Giving us a hypothetical back four if either of those get caught upfield.

I think that’s probably more of a reflection on the quality of options from the bench than anything else.
I would have put Gibbs-White on for Trincao earlier but yeah, a fair comment still I’d say at the minute while Podence and neto are out

RAN is fine playing LWB as we saw last season, and Lage has just been bigging MGW up as a first team player.

Just got home and frankly reading the match report and verdict thread I am laughing my tits off.
Expected us to get done by on three today just on the basis of newness, nuno less and whatever other bollocks that happens on day one.
We only just lost it by your own reports, could have won it, but what the fuck!
Who the hell expected Barcelona after last season under nuno.
OK stuff to learn but nowhere near embarrassing.
Ifni was nuno I wouldn't be organising a sing song on the coach up the M1.

He's the biggest reason we didn't score!
well the others cant either it seems, so since you hate him so much you would like to sell him? ..and who will create then?
