Just had a message from my neighbour saying someone has left their car on my driveway while we’re away, worst still it blocks in my wife’s car so for all they knew it could stop her from getting to work etc
Law wise if it’s still there when I get back and I block it in I’ll be the one who could be arrested.
Angry just doesn’t do it justice complete utter brass face and arrogance of some people is off the charts.

Growing trend near airports.

Sometimes it's selfish arrogant pricks, other times they've paid for car parking in good faith and its been dumped by those types.

Are they leaving it there a while? Do they do it when you’re in? Do they know you’re away? How does this benefit them?

No gone on holiday apparently it was left at 5pm this evening all neighbours nearby are checking their door bell cameras.
I think it’s someone staying with a friend or family a good few doors away chancing their arm knowing we’ve not been their for a week.
We’re nowhere near an airport Brum is the nearest and that’s 30 miles away.

Some concerning factors someone is watching the house and knows we’re away we never plaster over social media that we’re on holiday.
It could easily happen again. Could easily prevent us from working, going to appointments or visiting a sick relative etc
Someone who does this probably has no problem in becoming aggressive when they’re confronted to.

I feel for you mate, it’s an infuriating thing to happen.

We’ve a flat in the Jewellery Quarter (can’t sell at the moment (cladding (accidental landlords (that’s another story))) and cars get parked/abandoned in the underground allocated parking space all the while. That’s unsettling enough even though there’s no obvious connection to the flat as the bay numbers are different to the apartment numbers, but the anxiety must be on another level when it’s your own driveway - your mind can very easily run away with you for sure.

Talking to the various towing companies you learn cars get left in random places for all kind of strange reasons but more often than not it’s because some people are just unbelievably stupid. Hopefully that’s the case here and it will just suddenly disappear never to be seen again.

At least with a freehold property you would be able to install a post as Trips suggested if when this is done and dusted you feel you need to. Also, if the worst did come to the worst and you had to get the thing removed, freehold does make that a whole lot easier. One word of advice from experience though, do NOT touch the car at all, you are opening up a huge can of worms doing that and undermining what rights you do have. Keep patient and calm no matter how wound up you are.

I’m happy to talk options around removal should it come to that if it would help at all, but this may well suddenly resolve itself and quickly just be a bad memory. Fingers crossed that’s the case. In the meanwhile try not to worry too much and don’t play games with the car no matter how tempting it is to do so.

The council won’t be interested because it’s on a driveway - i.e private property. The police won’t be interested for the same reasons and even if trespass was an angle of approach trespass is a civil matter.

I didn’t want to go too far down the road of removal as that can be a fucking nightmare and JD has got enough on his plate as it is, but the DVLA won’t give the address of the owner from the licence plate, the police and council won’t want to know. At least the owner of the land the bloody car is stood on will be JD which helps, unless of course it’s a rented property which brings another party to the table and will see off any remainIng hair he might have left.

Hopefully is just someone incredibly stupid or a chancer that will quickly clear off and that be that. Your mind automatically goes to the sinister but it’s fairly rare for it to be anything like that.

Cheers for all the advice everyone so the mystery has been solved, the car in question belongs to a family member who left it on our drive and didn’t ask permission until this morning.
Put it this way I was not best pleased with them if they just asked a few days before no problem and would’ve saved all the aggro.
Relieved it’s not sinister in all fairness.

Used to live opposite the school my kids went to - going out at the start time one morning just pulled away when I saw someone pull into my drive then drag a child out the back of the car & run across the road.

I promptly backed up, blocked the drive & went inside. 10 mins later the doorbell goes & she's there asking if that's my car and could I move it. Said that I was on a business call & couldn't stop so she would have to wait (I wasn't) - went inside and had a coffee for 20 mins.

When I finally came out she was almost wetting herself - saying she was going to be in serious trouble for being late to work - I just said then don't park on other peoples drives then, got in my car & drove off to where I was going in the first place.

Tea Bags!
I've never understood the marketing or labelling of boxes of tea bags.
I do my shopping in NI (English stuff) as well as around the corner (Irish stuff) so brands are different.
I like strong tea (2 tea bags in a large mug, let it soak for 3 or 4 minutes)
So there I am in Tesco's (NI & Ire) looking at about 4 shelves 20 yards long and I'm seeing 'Gold Label', 'Red label', 'Premium blend', 'Original Blend', 'Green Label', 'Breakfast tea', and there I see a bit of better marketing, 'Yorkshire Strong Tea', But why cant they put a strength number on it like coffee. 1 - 5. How are you supposed to tell which is the stronger tea?
Really winds me up does that!
Need a decent cup of tea to calm me down...

Surely you don’t need a strength rating on tea bags. Don’t you just leave it in the mug longer and use less/no milk if you want it strong?

Also, two tea bags in your mug? Surely that’s strong no matter what tea bag you use!

Yorkshire Gold is the king of tea bags for me and I like mine pretty strong. Typhoo is the worst I’ve ever tasted by a mile.

I generally buy red label. They can be fairly strong tasting.
