Pets

My two kittens are now in mommy cats tummy. They will be ready to come to me at the end of June. I hope I can give Sprout & Peanut a good home and a long and happy life :)

Me kittens were born last night :)

Looking forward to giving a home to Sprout & Spud ( a name change thanks to Kenny :) )

Anyone on here in the Walsall/Wolvo area with a pond? Started draining our pond out this morning as we are replacing it after the Heron attack and discovered a baby fish that now needs a new home.

Deep fat fryer?

Luckily it has avoided this suggestion and has a new home.

I can also confirm draining and removing a pond is a horrible filthy job.

Can agree with that - did it for my Mum years ago. Fortunately my 2 boys were of an age that they could participate seriously so managed to just direct operations at times.

Holy thread revival Batman.

After some advice, after a year of looking we have finally found a puppy (or soon to be puppy) it’s a mix Lagotti Romagnolo and cockapoo - first time of having an actual puppy as we have only had rescue dogs and cats before. Any suggestions or tips on how to train and cope with puppies would be very welcome!

Puppy pads and a large cage for the evening along with socialisation classes

Get someone else to look after it for 12 months?

Just resign yourself to the fact that you'll be picking up shite and being play bitten by needle teeth for 6 months.

I think the coping part is likely to be harder than the training. It can be pretty draining coping with a puppy as the initial enthusiasm can be more than offset by the reality, which of course is happening very quickly, before you’ve had time to bond and get to know your dog. It’s the chewing that gets me every time. If yours is a ‘chewer’, you’ll get through umpteen phone charger cables, TV leads, lamp leads, laptop cables. You’ll be sat on the sofa online and suddenly lose connection, only to find your WiFi cable now in two bits. You’ll wonder how your dog hasn’t been electrocuted. Oh and don’t leave your nice headphones lying around as you can say cheerio to the charger cable and that really hurts. And the life expectancy of a pair of slippers is about a fortnight too.

But, hang in there. Just when you think it will never end, sure enough it does! Here is ‘Bess’, then and now:

Haha, its fun but hard work, depends how house/garden proud you are.
My eldest is trying to decide whether its worth re laying his lawn now or leaving it till next year, its been absolutely trashed by their 7 month old Springer, she's calmed down a bit but it'll probably be another 6 months before she's 'normal'

We have 3 boys, the house and garden have been trashed numerous times over the last 11 years.

I'm hopeful the breeds we have will be more calm than a spaniel type... We are lucky we live on the edge of fields, a river and a canal too - hopefully with me working from home for pretty much ever they will get plenty of exercise. Looking forward to the first furniture chewing though :)

Our old dog never chewed anything at all as a puppy, though he was a bit of a melt and would even turn up dog treats if he found them too hard to chew.

My uncle had two dachshunds when I was younger though and they used to have a penchant for eating their basket, big hard plastic thing but they'd go through one every 12 months or so, did it all the way through into adulthood the little weirdos.

Seeing your Pup will be part cockapoo, I would prepare for chewing though Tredders. I know a couple of people who have found them to be bastards. One even chewed through their car seat belts when they had put them on the back seat for a journey to the vets

My Nan's dachshund did the same to his bed, weirdos.

Sounds like you're in good shape to me!

A quality dust-buster (not sure what they're called over there, basically a handheld vacuum) is a must, though. Especially if you don't have carpet, you'll get dog hair tumbleweeds all over the place in no time.
