The R.I.P. Thread

:mecry::mecry::mecry:

Really sad news. One of my great heroes. On with Hot for Teacher and raise a glass to a true guitar god.

i listened to live right here right now the other day for the revisiting albums thread. Only listened to disc 1, and was due to do disc 2 before posting a review.

Do 1984 instead. Let’s pay tribute to his zenith. Or just listen to Eruption and let your mind boggle at the sheer outrageous talent. I’m gutted.

I can't go past the first album, as good as it got :(

Only just read this, shit, only 3 years older than me, what a talent

I could buy a five grand guitar, a six grand amp set up and every effect known to man and still wouldn’t get the brown sound that he created with a home built beaten to shit Kramer, Marshall jubilee and basically a couple of MXR pedals.

Eddie was a hero of mine (as a guitarist). He revolutionised rock guitar playing. Whilst he'll be remembered for tracks like Eruption and for the two-hand tapping, to me his rhythm guitar is what actually stood him apart from his peers.

He definitely had his fair sure of excesses and has been ill for a while now, but still sad to see him go.

Listen to Panama. Amazing rhythm playing on that. Epic riff. And then the solo shoots the lights out too. I’m really rather crestfallen. I thought saying goodbye to Lemmy was painful a few years ago but this is worse.

It's because they were an integral part of your life, it hits you so hard, and I think the shock of it !
