Techy Stuff Help!

The EE 5GB is £15 as I’ve just got it (although it’s £10 with the discount). Anything else higher data wise is really expensive. Don’t seem to have a middle ground, it’s all 25GB/unlimited above that.

I was paying £6 on Sky. So a lot more expensive % wise but my phone is now actually useable and I don’t get pissed off not being able to load a basic website or stand in my garden trying to get a signal.

As for data...I wouldn't get anywhere near using 5GB (I think that's been my limit since about 2016 and I've never even come close to using it). Pubs/cafes have WiFi normally. Download Spotify playlists before going out if you plan on using music for any length of time. Don't do enough long train journeys for it to be a factor. Obviously use 0GB when I'm at home.

I have 5GB which is plenty for me, rarely use more than 1, 7 quid/month from 02 (was virgin). We'll see what my next tariff comes to in April as 02 are honouring the virgin deal currently.

100gb of data plus 15gb roaming in EU for 12 per month.

Works really well for me and the couple of times my home BB has gone down has meant I can still work from home via hotspot with nae bother.

I'm with talk mobile, sometimes gets a bit patchy out in the sticks but otherwise fine.
I’m tempted by them. I pay £7 a month for 3GB with Sky and I can get 15GB for £6.95 with Talkmobile.

The increase is data is pretty irrelevant as a) I’d never use 15GB and b) my data rolls over with Sky so I could use may more than 3GB a month if I needed to but it would be nice to have a better signal. With Sky, if I’m anywhere crowded then the signal is absolutely shocking.

There’s no EU roaming anymore but I don’t get that with Sky anyway.

Iirc the contract with talk mobile is 30 days so you could give it a try and if it's naff go elsewhere relatively pain free.

Interesting reading this mobile thread.

I’ve just come out of a 24 month contract with 3, £30pm iPhone 11 with unlimited data. Was desperate to get away from 3 as whilst the coverage was ok, the signal strength was often very weak. If out with a group of friends my phone signal would invariably be the weakest and be first to drop connectivity, to the point I wondered if it was something to do with the phone.

Couldn’t wait to change and figured I’d go sim only for 12 months then upgrade the phone next year. Just signed up to O2, 100GB, £15 pm (probably only use 5-10 but wasn’t going to piss around too much and that seemed a good deal).

Anyway, generally seeing a big improvement in signal strength - except - in my own front room where it’s gone from weak to unusable! Ok, so it’s connected to Wi-Fi at home so fine for data etc but it’s ridiculous I have to talk using WhatsApp or go outside to make a bloody phone call.

I mean I know there are dead zones for different networks all over the U.K. but I’ve been to countries that haven’t got a pot to piss in with brilliant coverage compared to this. It just seems crazy after all this time we’re still even having to think about coverage.

Enable wifi calling if you have an iPhone

Looking for the best antivirus and vpn. Had a look online but all sites seem to be sponsored by their number one choice.

The built-in windows anti-virus is probably all you need these days, just make sure its kept up to date.

VPNs are a murky world, I've been using PIA since 2014 and its never let me down - 100% cashback too if you go via TopCashBack. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/
Thanks, I`ll take a look. I am coming to the end of my Nord VPN but have had lots of connection issues that they have not been able to rectify, so I will not be renewing.

I have Nord VPN. I find them very annoying and will not use them again.
I used Tunnel Bear for many years without any problems. I wish I hadn’t changed.

Cheers for this. ExpressVPN are 100% cashback on there now too but the reviews say they aren't paying out the cashback and they had to cancel within the 30 day trial period. So I guess I'll avoid them and go with PIA.

I’ve used Mullvad and had no issues. £5 a month so cheap enough too

Yeah Mullvad were what I used a while back they had complete privacy and no logs which was good. And the Wireguard speeds were excellent.

My partner uses TCB and hardly anything ever actually pays out. Always says declined or rejected 🤷‍♂️

I used tunnelbear at roughly the same time we were in the championship and had zero issues with it
