The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

I remember our "eclipse" in summer 1999. BBC went all out with a full live broadcast from Cornwall where it was supposed to be most visible.

Thick cloud all day :D

IIRC we had a good view of it here in the West Midlands. Rather than looking at the sun, the more interesting aspect for me was the birds preparing for nightfall, the drop in temperature and the general eeriness of it all.

A bit like lockdown!

I’ve just been reading about how it is bizarrely like proper nighttime for four minutes, all the wildlife having their rhythm totally fooled by the effects of the eclipse. Wild!

Think we discussed GP appts on the annoy thread recently.
As a consequence of aging, I now qualify for early intervention tests. Had a text come through recently asking me to book in at my local GP. Had rec'd a similar one 2 weeks ago, but it just said no appts available.
As I was next to my phone went straight on. Booked in for next monday. Very easy! Obvs I won't see a GP, it'll be an appt with a nurse.

I
Here in Chattanooga we are forecast to get 80/90%
Back in 2017 I was working in Athens TN and experienced 100% totality (Consequently it took me 3 hours to drive back home that day due to solar eclipse traffic on i75!)
I'll see if I can find some old photos back from 2017 and later today
Was here for that one, had a big party at the house with some friends and a bunch of crazy german ladies who all stripped off for the eclipse, and got howling drunk.
Not a day i will forget easily 🤣

Cloud rolled in front of the eclipse not 2 minutes before maximal coverage and sat in the way for the entire thing. 😂

Typical!

Our new passports arrived this morning, only about 8 days after ordering online.
Pretty painless experience really (apart from the cost)

Yeah, just did mine a couple of weeks ago. There'd been a bit of a gap since my last one, so expected difficulties, but was less than a couple of weeks to be delivered.

Well amazingly, a few days after he needs a machine to breathe, Alfie's been off oxygen all afternoon and breathing properly. He's been happy and babbly and cuddly and it's been a beautiful, beautiful day.

He has a cannula in his hand so they can get steroids and antibiotics into him, and as you can imagine it is a nightmare to get in. Like a doctor trying to find a vein in a screaming octopus that I'm having to wrestle still.

Well, he's feeling better and decided that he wants to chew this plastic thing that's stuck to his hand. And the more I tell him not to, the more he laughs and does it.

So came the ingenious solution. I present to you "sock 1 - 0 Alfie", a Ricardo Del Woppio short film.
