Wolves 1-0 West Ham: Verdict Thread

What has he created? By the time he masters the offensive side of WB we'll have moved to a back 4 ;) (where he wasn't exactly brilliant last year).

He's decent, and he'll do. I just don't see why he gets a free pass to be wasteful when he's playing a pivotal role.
The goal against Leeds ?

Watching the MOTD highlights it's striking how much Podence and Semedo were involved in our key moments. I thought Semedo was excellent personally, he's a constant threat going forward and is very sound defensively.
Don't usually get round to watching MOTD, but they didn't even show the Traore run towards the end of the game.

Yeah he got into a good position there, wouldn't class it as direct creation though, and he kind of undid it all by lummoxing Gelhardt to the floor for their penalty anyway! Very sound defensively ;)

first time i've watched MOTD this season and guess what, on last (as usual ???)

Palace v Burnley would have been pencilled in to that slot, but it was an absolute goal fest.

So how long do we think Kilman can keep this form up? Thought he looked genuinely excellent yesterday, had Antonio in his pocket whenever they clashed, and seemed able to get a foot to the ball any time a WH player tried to better him.

Option in a four if we had some pace next to him or in CM?

Semedo played as well as could be expected. Defensively very solid and always an option offensively. He missed 2 of our best 3 chances in the first half, the first he mishit and the second he took a touch when he needed to hit it first time. I don't expect him to score those chances, but it's a shame we don't have a player in that position who can.
He always looks to me like he's got the technique to be a much better attacker, but he totally loses his head in those spots. Which is odd as otherwise he's so assured in what he's doing that he almost comes off as languid at times.

One would hope that if he can really form a solid partnership with someone and get in those positions more often, he'll stop having such wild rushes of blood to his noggin.

I haven't seen anything all season to suggest that this level of play isn't simply Kilman's new normal. And long may it continue.

A lot of it is confidence. Has to be. In the first half yesterday he was in down the right. Now if he straight lines it to the box he was getting a shot on goal, or at least would commit the keeper so maybe could slide it across. He already had a head start and isn’t slow, but bizarrely was running down the line and too busy looking for help so it petered out.

rather enjoyable game of football that.

@Paddingtonwolf pre-match forecast turned out to be off :D
wham were on top for the first 10-15, looking potentially threatening, but we got various footholds into the game and controlled a hell of a lot of the ball.
We pretty much dominated the rest of the first half, but neither team created any outstanding clear chances. We consistently cranked up the pressure. Podence wasn't in the game at all for the first 30 mins, then proceeded to become probably the most influential on the pitch. good game to watch.
2nd half and we carried on where we left off. Having repeatedly created lots of series of nice passages of play, we stepped it up further, and created a really cracking opportunity that raul finished off so well.
and we then continued to control the game up to maybe the last 10 minutes, when west ham started pushing.

Coady didn't get bullied. between him, kilman and neves, antonio was always kept in check.
Saiss was really good with the ball.
kilman had another really good game.
I will never, ever tire of watching neves play. absolute joy being able to watch him each week.
front 3 worked hard, and got more influential the more the game went on.
Sa only involved the first 10 mins, and the last.

where do we stand on the neves slice out to moutinho by the way? I believe it was intentional. motd disagreed.
Must admit my first thought was he'd sliced it but my lad said straight away he meant it....probably need to see it again from closer and a different angle
