It's that time of year again. No, not Fixture Day (leave that for tomorrow); it's time for the new Loan Watch thread.

There are some pressing questions to be answered:

Will Wolves' rapid ascent into the Europa League see previously established first-teamers, like Helder Costa, head back to the Championship?

Will, as Seyi Olofinjana said, more youngsters be sent out to European leagues?

Will TWF Loan Watch ever be the same without Ethan Ebanks-Landell's lower league exploits?

There's only one place to find out. Feel free to post any updates, rumours and comments in here.

So MGW's former England U17 coach Steve Cooper has got the Swansea job. If he guaranteed to play him week in week out, except for injury until at least the next window would you loan him?

Personally I would as I think he'd get the game time he needs with a manager that respects him and it'll develop him more than a few minutes here or there for Wolves will.

I can see the reasoning behind it but I reckon MGW will have a big part to play in the Europa League games. Nuno's hinted at using fringe members/U23s.

He does need more game time, that's for sure.

Same here, it's not a bad shout at all (and I won't be surprised if Cooper looks to bring in MGW and Brewster from Liverpool) but I'd still rather have Morgan playing first team games here. Think he will get plenty of opportunities.

I don't ever want Gibbs-White to play for anyone other than Wolves or England.

No Telford. Ennis did but got crocked early on.

That'd be a great move, especially if we can have him back to train at Compton occasionally.

Giles to Shrewsbury on a season long loan confirmed

On the move, Academy manager Scott Sellars said: “Sam (Ricketts) did a big sell on wanting ‘Gilo’ and explained how he’d knit into how they wanted to play and how he fits in as a wing-back, so for his continued development I think it will be excellent.

Added.

A good move for all parties although I suspect he'll already be too good for that level.

I would think so, and far too good for Shrewsbury who are bottom half at best. I thought he needed to go to a Championship club.

Seems the selling point from Shrewsbury was playing him as a LWB, which is obviously better for us. So hopefully he gets a good season in a role we want him to be in. I doubt many Championship sides will be able offer playing him in that position.

Exactly (Leeds actually went and paid money for Baz last year and don't play him as a LWB) and Championship clubs aren't going to be falling over themselves right now for a player who has played one senior game.

If he does really well and is clearly way too good for L1 then we can always break it in January and find him somewhere else.

I think mgw is going to develop more with a full season of championship football, rather than 5-6 full games with us and 20 subs with 10-20 mins. Hes only 19, got a lot to learn and still has another 2-3 years of peak physical development left. If we are serious about europe and pushing for another top 7 finish we need to sign a quality experienced midfielder to share time with moutinho

Alternatively, he could play a part propelling shrewsbury into the top half, and they become potential challengers for the playoffs. Getting significant game time will benefit the lad.

edit regarding Giles

Disagree. Keep MGW here. He'll learn directly from the coaches, and fellow pro's. He'll play in games in europe, as well as cup matches, and some league games. He'll develop here better.
Signing another Moutinho will hamper MGW's development imo.

We're not loaning Gibbs-White out and nor should we, it's a rubbish idea.

Disagree, If we make the Europa group stages we are going to be playing a lot of games so he will be needed.

Also say he goes to Bristol City and starts, - as soon as their results go south he will more than likely be dropped to the bench as young loan players are always easy fall guys in that situation and that can have a knock on affect to confidence and the players value. These loans seem to go wrong far more times than they go well.
