Your thoughts now we are into the week of the season starting. Pre-empting, the too early to tell posts, you can't have a pre season poll a month in, so assume the recuitment over the next 4 weeks is consistent with your expectations.

Our first 11 is as good as anyone’s outside the top 6. Beyond that is appalling though.

I can’t fathom a situation where we don’t get at least 2 players in. And with no European football, a break in the middle where the majority of our first XI will get a break either at Compton or on the bench in Qatar, then I don’t see injuries or burnout being a huge problem which couldn’t be rectified in January if neccessary. So top half for me

Top 7. Get a striker in first and a ball carrying midfielder in later and I think we'll surprise a lot of teams.

Might even score a few goals in the process.

The problem is, on top of the players we need to bring in we are likely going to see some more players leave. I don't trust them not to sell Neves or MGW late in the window either and until they sign new deals, it's a real possibility right up to deadline day.

No one wants Neves. A good season for him at the base of a 3 in an attacking teams will turn a lot of heads though.

Don’t think anyone’s that serious on MGW, and him leaving to join Forest would be stupid.

Don't think that's true. I think what is true is that Neves isn't anyones first choice but if those deals don't come off I could easily see someone going for him late in the window.

Bids for either will test Wolves as if neither sign new deals we will get shit deals for them next Summer and it's not sustainable if the model is to be self sufficient.

I don't see MGW leaving unless it is for silly money. Would have to be £30m+ and nobody is paying that.

My worry is RAN. I can see City buying him for £45m.

14-17th on the basis we bring in a CM and CF but they’re not the quality we need to get close to top half.

If we were to play our best 11 all season then I'd be confident of top half. We aren’t even able to do that for the first game of the season though. I think our lack of any depth will be a killer and don't have faith in Sellars and Shi to bring in what's required at the level of quality needed. So about 15th for me. There's a scenario I could see us going down with bad injury luck and a manager who last year looked out of depth on occasion, equally there's a pathway to improving on last season with some recruitment and managerial nous

Not being first choice and “no one wants” mean the same thing in my book.

But in truth we don’t know. Given he has been made captain, there is zero chat of him leaving then I’d say I’m more likely right.

2 year deal is a bit of a red herring too. No one currently wants to pay £35 million for him, they’ve said themselves he was available for that last summer. Let’s say that’s £45m now. If he smashes it this year then they’ll be queuing up at £35m+ next year irrespective of contract situation. So theoretical £10m loss on the books for another year of him, I’d say that’s fine. It’s not a loss anyway if no wants him

14-17 a season where we are constantly looking over our shoulders. Problems that were here in May haven’t gone away I’m afraid.

Thought strongly about ‘going down’ - we are two injuries, max, from total disaster.

8th to 10th. I'm glass half full at the moment, the caveat being that we get the CF and CM player we need for a little depth. Without that a couple of injuries might make it interesting, and probably not in a good way.

I wouldn’t be shocked at all if we did go down, if we get lucky with injuries our best 11 is still better than at least 6 sides. But as some have said bit of bad luck and I think we’ll be in deep shit.

14th. Combination of squad depth issues and a lack of confidence in the manager. Some promising signs in pre season but the end to last season was so worryingly bad.

I've gone for 11-13, on the back of Hwang's 15+ goals he'll score this year. ;)

I’ve gone 11-13, which is pretty much on the fence.

We are one of those teams that with a bit of luck with injuries and the rub of the green we could easily push the top 6 close, however if the aforementioned isn’t with us we could easily get dragged into a relegation dog fight.
