Ex-Wolf Watch

His last Forest game was a 3-0 battering by his new team I think?

Apparently West Ham originally decided to sack Potter 2-3 weeks ago and approached Nuno's reps but Nuno wasn't interested. They then interviewed Gary O'Neil but Nuno remained their preferred candidate. There have also been reports of Jorge Mendes holding talks with West Ham regarding Vitor prior to VP getting his new contract. With Lopetegui thrown in too, West Ham seem to have a fetish for Wolves managers

Post-Bully and pre-Raul, indisputably the best striker we had in nearly 20 years. And we had plenty of other good and very good ones in that timeframe. Excellent footballer, brilliant in the air, sharp finisher.

I always thought Sunderland was the wrong move for him, he should have been holding out for a move to a top six club. Look at some of the shite Arsenal had up front around that timeframe (Bendtner, Sanogo, Park, Gervinho, Chamakh).

Remember when he randomly went to Marseille for half a season? That were weird, weren't it.

He was good enough for a top 6 team, but his reputation wasn't as good as it deserved to be, he was seen as a bit of a target man, but he was a much better overall player than that.

Think he got poorly advised there. He'd done well for Burnley and then very well for us. So three straight PL seasons of good returns in rubbish teams.

If he'd have made it clear in April/May/June that he wanted out and there's no way he was getting mired in the Championship then he might have got a better move. He didn't, he actually played at least one friendly for us under Solbakken (captained us I think) and only once a concrete bid came in - from Sunderland - did he say he was off. But we were into August by then, other clubs had moved on and signed someone else.

The performative hate towards him from our lot was stupid. Don't want to lose your best players, don't get relegated then. I wouldn't say he handled it brilliantly but the odds on him playing any games for us in the second tier were always long.

I went from watching him to watching Frank Nouble in about two and a half months, which is a case study I'll often bring up when people say "the Championship is more fun".

When I left I said he’d be perfect for Arsenal. Guess some his off-field antics didn’t help.

Obviously he went to Sunderland because the lure of partnering with Jozy Altidore was too strong to pass up ay

Altidore rocked up a year after him.

Fletcher should have done an Alen Boksic/Noel Whelan there*

*Didn't happen

God damn my fucking memory; I have for years remembered them both being bought the same summer and then never playing together because Fletch got hurt or something.

However good Jozy was or wasn’t, for fuck sake was that move immediately and obviously terrible for him (and, in hindsight, for everyone involved)!
