Well so much for the brave talk - had a real 2nd shot shocker last night. Flu like symptoms again but with full-on shakes during the night. Luckily, eased during the day but a bit groggy and looking forward to a proper sleep tonight.

Had a fair old reaction to the first but for some reason or another just wasn’t expecting that for the second. Funny how it gets people in different ways. Does make you think if that’s the reaction to the vaccine then just what might’ve been with the real thing. Fingers crossed we‘ll never have to find out.

I had to queue for my second one. My appointment was booked (at 16:20). The delay was due to one of the vaccinators not turning up earlier in the day. Just one of those things.

I wasn't straight in and out. Was a small queue to give my details, then had to sit around for a short while until they called me through, they're still having to space people out remember.

No bother though, it is what it is. I'd be annoyed if it were a couple of hours though!

They let me straight out, no mandatory waiting period. Could probably tell that I'm a double hard bastard and all that.

my boss said the same. having their vaccine knocked them about apparently, but their reaction was "if this is the reaction to the vaccine, thank god I never actually caught covid".

mrs jelly had no waiting. I sat in the car park with my book and only managed to read 3-4 pages IIRC. She was back in about 12 mins or so. when I went, as I was driving they encouraged me to sit and wait for 15 mins. there was a dedicated space for this by the exit, though it was fine & the volunteer fella was chirpy.

both of our jabs were at edgbaston cricket ground, so there's masses of space. give details at the entrance (fella who took mine was a liverpool fan who worked at the airport and was volunteering owing to no work available. side issue, he's repeatedly met Nuno and spoke about what an extremely lovely person he was -well mannered, polite and respectful). Next bloke went through some basic details, then a short queue for the team of nurses and admin (one of each at each station) who would do the deed.
ran like clockwork. the whole process took me about 25-30 mins, including 15 mins sat waiting to leave.
all the volunteers who I met were really positive and friendly. so wonderful to see.

Had my 1st jab on Friday morning, then spent Saturday in bed. I’m a wuss. My wife has hers tomorrow. I know full well she will sail through it.

The one saving grace is that I had Astrazeneca and she is having Pfizer so I won’t feel quite so wimpish when she gets on with stuff.

I took some of Pfizer’s other pills a while back without any water, and ended up with a stiff neck.

Was that AZ? Surprised if so, because the rumour seems to be that the 2nd shot has less severe effects. Bit worried now, because Mrs TH had a bad time and is due her 2nd jab on Thursday.

Got my second AZ tomorrow so I’ll let you know how it goes. My dad was absolutely fine after his second AZ, we were both proper ropey after the first.

Yes, it was the AZ. The reaction was almost identical to the first in its symptoms, but a couple of notches up if that makes sense. There was a spell of fairly spectacular shivers this time and there wasn’t the almost instant recovery the following day. There was some sort of hangover grogginess and the body felt a bit bruised, but it was still a pretty quick recovery given the worst point during the night.

As mentioned it just caught me off guard. I think I was just assuming the body had done it’s work on the first and was expecting either no reaction or a lesser version which I was up for dealing with. Certainly wasn’t expecting that wallop for sure.

I do hope your wife is ok and am sorry if that’s added to the concern, but she might well be absolutely fine. There really seems to be no predicting this, it’s just all very odd indeed.

2nd AZ jab was a doddle. 1st one I felt a bit 'ropey' (mainly tired) for about 24 hours. Similarly with the wife. My youngest was laid low for about 48 hours with his 1st AZ jab and was ok after 2nd.

Cheer CW. Yes, the reactions seem about as predictable as the site problems on here. I think I'll keep your experience to myself for now, although she's expecting the worst anyway (if she even decides to have it).

Wife's 2nd jab was due 11th June but she had a call asking if she could go in for it today. Bit of a trek but rearranged for this Sunday morning.
My 2nd jab the following day, so end of May and our household is fully jabbed. Lovely stuff.

Is that AZ for your wife? My 2nd is due 14th and have been told i can have it earlier if needed, but I thought maybe best to stick to 12 weeks?

I though 12 weeks was the longest you can leave it. I'd be getting it done ASAP, especially with the revelation that the single jab is only 33% effective against the Indian variant.
