Wolves 0-0 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

At the expense of actually attempting to win a game, no.
I still don't understand this way of thinking. I don't know what Bruno has said at HT but I am pretty darn sure it wasn't "go out and defend, don't worry about scoring goals or trying to score though".

Like, come on. We had to do a lot of defending but this idea that we went out with no intention of trying to win the game is just ridiculous to me.

Like going to a cinema to watch a documentary, interesting but it's not really what you go for.
At least I understand this analogy a bit. Don't agree with it, but can get the logic.

0-0 FC

Defended well
Donck should score
Clear hand ball from Kante and probable red
Raul was terrible.

Can we have a goal against Watford please.

Probably. I enjoyed the first 3 games 10 times more than this one.
Can't possibly imagine having this perspective but more power to you if that's how you feel, I s'pose.

I'm with you on that, but think we're in a minority. I think if we'd have kept playing that way we'd have honed it, scored chances and a have a lot more to look forward to tbh.

I'm not sure we can say that; if things had continued as they were for the first three games much longer, Bruno wouldn't be here right now.

A good point, defended very well, and had spells in the first half when we played football. I'd like us to stick to the 352 for a while, see if we can get it working
I don't see it ever being anything more than a means to an end with this squad.

The wingbacks aren't anything like threatening enough to carve out things of their own accord when given sole responsibility down the flanks and there's no option in the squad who is dynamic enough to offset that by providing extra threat centrally. Against teams where you're confident you can defend the box from crosses all day then it's a good defensive option to surrender the flanks and head everything away but it comes at the cost of removing 1/3 of the attacking threat from an already sterile team.

Enjoyed our performance first half. Gave me encouragement (as the second half against brighton did) that we could play a 3412 and be a better attacking threat. If we do play it though, as solid as Marcal and Hoever were today they aren’t the type of options we need at wing back

Well, from my perspective we aren't going down and we certainly aren't going to trouble the top 6, so if we am gonna bob about in mid table I'd rather enjoy watching us play than being annoyed at the complete anti football we played last 40 minutes..

Genuinely curious what tactical benefits you think a 3-4-1-2 gives us over a flatter 3-5-2? Not saying you're wrong, just don't know enough to guess how that shift affects things.

If defending is "anti-football" I guess I don't know why you're interested in the sport at all as you don't seem to care for literally half of it.

But like I say, I won't be able to convince you to feel otherwise.

So before the game what were you expecting (against Chelsea)

To actually attempt to win. Especially considering their bench having a keeper, a bloke who couldn't get in villas side and 2 defensive midfielders, not to mention them playing a centre half in midfield.

Maybe we should have just bowed down and let em win because theym Chelsea.

Another attacking body rather than 3 defensive midfielders holding hands across the halfway line.
