Trump

He’s lost the US Open at his course in New Jersey as the USGA say his name would damage their brand.

The vote to impeach is a simple majority on each article. Obviously, The House only needs one article to pass to impeach, but the more the merrier.

EDIT - An article is a charge, btw.

EDIT 2 - After the trial in the senate, it's a two thirds vote needed to convict.

Watching CNN coverage of the Impeachment hearing. So many Republicans defence seems to be “but he’s only got “x number of days” left, he’ll be gone soon. Why impeach.”

er, because he insisted sedition? He encouraged an attack on the seat of power?

An argument close to “why are you arresting and charging this man with murder? He’s emigrating in 7 days so he won’t be our problem any more” 🙄

total knobs

The republicans seem to have their own “but labour” switch so they can blame the democrats.

Mitch McConnell has mysteriously misplaced his spine. The Senate will not be called back until after Trump leaves office.

Steny Hoyer appears to be allowed to talk for as long as he wants. Good job as I cook and finish my tea in the time he finishes a sentence. Good speech though.

7 Republicans vote to impeach so far... 218 the magic number

McConnell is playing a long game in my opinion. He wants Trump out of the Republican Party. But equally he doesn’t want him running as an independent in 2024 and splitting the right wing vote. But he doesn’t want it happening on his watch. Schumer will be majority leader on 20th January and he can run the trial at which point McConnell quietly gets enough Republicans to vote to convict and remove his problem.

And there it is

Getting yourself Impeached twice is a cracking record and not in a good way.

10 Republicans have a spine

10 republicans is actually quite impressive. They are only elected for 2 years at a time and are mostly in gerrymandered districts where their fate is in the hands of their own supporters rather than the public at large.
Plus there will be others who voted against the motion but secretly wanted it to pass.
