I'm guessing there was a bit of banter between Ruben and Romain at the end of the game, Saiss has always been underated but is/was probably an even better guy off the pitch as on it, yet another mistake by the Shi/Sellars combination who did not offer him a new contract.

Like Coady it was probably time to move away from Saiss. His form after he came back from ACON in his final season was erratic at best and he was already 32. We know that was exacerbated by Lage being a prick and playing on against Leeds where - I at least - think he had a concussion.

What sticks in the craw is the way their departures were handled.

I think the only departure you could point to as a mistake is Boly, he'd still be our best centre half if he was with us today.

It may have been time to move on from those players but to let go/force out all 3 at once was stupid given we didn't replace any of their experience and quality.
