Nuno to leave Wolves

Exactly that, which is why i'm saying it will be a kick in the bollocks to him (and his staff) to see the "new" guy get a big chunk of money to spend, as Nuno was told there wasn't any. I'm not saying i don't want them to strengthen the squad. I've been saying it for ages, along with most on here.

With regard to recruitment Nuno hampered himself by having a small nucleus of quality to work with. It did not cost us for the first 3 seasons but we were murdered by it this season with Raul Podence Neto Boly injuries and poor form from Patricio Moutinho Neves at times and Traore. That’s half his trusted men out of the picture. Fabio and Semedo haven’t hit the heights for a number of reasons either. I also think he was stuck betwixed and between with systems and personnel. So we haven’t had to splash new cash for a while. There will be funds for the new manager and he will most likely sell a few too. That is what normally happens in a pre season. We could not have gone on realistically giving almost every team a one goal start and yet not looking like scoring and Nuno knew this hence his tinkering. He was I believe completely aware that the only way we looked like getting points was to grind out a dull insipid 1 0 which didn’t reflect the style wolves hierarchy wanted. So change was inevitable once those two paths started to move in different directions. That said I want a great send off for him today. Better go today a hero than sacked in three months and us bottom which was not inconceivable
 
Lets not forget the positive points that a small squad can give too. I have no doubt that having a squad of players who are all effectively first team players is a really positive thing, having 1 or 2 who rarely play sulking in training etc can be a huge detriment. The togetherness and team spirit of a small squad will always be more concentrated than in a larger squad.

Also Nuno could never have predicted a global pandemic would kick in that would squeeze the fixtures to such an extent that rest and recovery was difficult and thus injuries increased. Had football continued "normally" his small squad philosophy would have continued to work i'm sure, especially with the excellent medical team we have/had.

I said Saunders would take us down and I was told we were too good for that. That went well.

Apparently so. I'm sure he wasn't expecting them to be cheering him in.

If you are comparing Saunders to Lage then that is just more Hyperbole.

On the latter it really depends on who they bring in to replace Nuno. I bet the new guy doesn't get that crowd outside when he arrives. I bet Nuno feels warm inside seeing everyone out there cheering for him. It's everything he deserves.

I dont think he is comparing the two men per se, but rather the golf club nature of the appointment(s), the degrees of experience both men had etc

If you were expecting Nuno's sacking and were asked to compile a list of realistic replacements how highly would Lage figure? Would he figure? Do you think he would on many fans lists?

If anything, I think Dan's reservations is that Jeff Shi is possibly sleepwalking into Steve Morgan sized pitfalls.

Nuno fits the golf club recruitment style, he wouldn't be at Wolves without the Mendes connection, but it worked alright.

I don't agree with the sacking, but if the new guy comes in and we are in the Top 6 come October then he'll be as popular as Nuno, that's just fandom. Through no fault of his own I do think he'll be on a short leash fan wise though, whoever he is
