Ok, so clearly it doesn't matter if we play 4 or 5 at the back. We still concede more often than not, 21% possession park the bus tactics against Chelsea aside.

So for me we may as well play a four in defence and give our attack more chance to actually score. The most amount of shots we've had this season came in the run of games when playing a back four, so clearly we CAN produce a half decent attacking performance with that formation.

There's also an argument to say the goals we conceded were mainly set-pieces or penalties. Whether that was because we were under more pressure defensively is hard to say. May as well go with four at the back than play for 0-0s every week though.

Rui

Semedo - Boly - Kilman - Saiss

Donk - Neves

Traore - Podence - Neto

Jose

Semedo left, Hoever right if Saiss still isn't fit. Also I'd much rather play Otasawie instead of Donk but Nuno isn't going to do that.

Dons tin hat.

Ruddy
Semedo - Boly - Kilman - ?
Otasowie- Neves
Traore - MGW - Neto
Jose

To be fair, ? has deserved a chance for a few games now...

I'd quite happily not see Dendonker or Traore start for us again tbh.

Four at the back, Boly and Kilman in the middle. Owen, Neves and Vitinha in midfield, Neto, Podence and Jose in attack.

Fuck knows to be honest.

Would take a Point now.

RUI

Semedo/Hoever Boly Coady RAN/Semedo (injury dependant)

Neves

Traore Podence Otasowie Neto

Willian

I feel for Coady, he's gone from his England debut, goal, captaincy, all round hero to a liability irrespective of formation in about 3 months, but it saddens me to say he needs a rest. 4 at the back has predictably kiĺled him

At this point we really have to think about what Coady brings to this team. The occasional diagonal doesn't really cut it for me anymore. Now Docs gone it's not really a viable tactic anymore, or rather, it's a ball most of the CBs can play

Can’t remember him individually being a problem in a 4? He’s isn’t good enough, but I don’t remember looking at the Arsenal, Villa, Brighton, Everton games thinking he’s had a bad game individually.

Yeah, if Saiss is injured, just play Coady or Kilman in the back four. We need to sign in that position but none of our centre back options are relegation material, IMO.

I would play

Patricio
Hoever Boly Coady/Kilman Semedo
Neves Donck
Traore Podence Neto

Put names in hat - Pull out 11 of them, go with that.

Picks itself. I’d play Semedo on the right as it maximises his abilities and allow Hoever to “fill in”.

The first 2 no, the latter two and Albion he sat too deep. You only needed to watch him today to see his confidence has gone. Defending one on one hasn't ever been a strength. Now it's a bombscare

Ruddy
Hoever Boly Kilman Semedo
Neves Vitinha
ANO ANO Neto

Has anyone got any gk stats? I feel like Rui has been pretty poor this season

Even if we do sign ANM it’s unlikely he can fill two positions.
