General Wolves News

Real Madrid have a strong basketball team, I went round their museum at the stadium ages ago and they had tonnes of medals dedicated to it
Spanish league is generally considered the next best in the world behind the NBA IIRC.

It looks like a clothing brand launch to me.

A bit bizarre really but I'm guessing that the wolf head will be in the game somewhere.

Leasing the badge for a sub-brand of Castore, perhaps?

Total guesswork but maybe playing this game in tournaments the eSports team wear Wolves branded clothing so makes sense to have the brand in the game?

That makes sense too, although I'm guessing the branding will be on some sort of sponsorship banner somewhere in the game and on some of the athletes themselves.

I wonder if we'll see an announcement at some point in the next 4 days.

There is something in here about links to NACL and NBA 2K. My brain is too fried to know what it means though

For us? Very little. For Fosun/Wolves as a financial entity? Possibly a very big deal.

It's also just nice to see the club investing in an area that normally has to fight pretty tooth-and-claw to be seen as legitimate. I strongly believe that Esports will be pretty ubiquitous in the "developed" world within 20 or 30 years.

Nothing. To. Do. With. The. Club.

This is Fosun exploring the Wolfhead logo without seeming tangible benefits to us as a club.

It sits really uneasy with me

Unless someone can prove to me that there's no chance any of that money gets funneled back into the football side of things, I guess I'm just not that bothered by it?

Imagine they create a global clothing brand worth many millions through use of our IP. As they own the club there is no need for a licence to use the IP which is the way to guarantee the income heading into the club. It can just as easily go elsewhere in the Fosun structure.

Unless the football club are successful it'll never amount to much IMO.

On top of that the iconic status of the logo as a football club badge is hugely diluted if half of Asia thinks of it as Nike lite or the Lacoste croc.

I proved this at the weekend.

Fosun Sports Group own Wolves eSports
Guo owns Wolves the club (W.W.1990 Ltd)

The two companies are not the same but they are using the same logo/ trademark.

Well there's not been the slightest inkling that it will be - and as it's not wolves that own the revenue stream it wouldn't help us from a FFP perspective either.

It's never going to have the slightest benefit to the football club. It's just another thing owned by our owners, and using our brand in their other businesses is making me uncomfortable
