The TWF Horse Racing Thread

I fell out of love with NH a number of years ago and haven't watched the National for a few years, but was somewhere this afternoon that had it on. What happened at the first fence was horrible. The issue for me has always been the size of the field on good ground and the cavalry charge at the start.

Yeah that wasn't nice to watch at the first fence with the horse flapping away on the ground.

Awful viewing. Poor sod. Graham Wylie has been so unfortunate with his horses.

At a price, I like Blue Flight in the Scottish National tomorrow and I'd be disappointed if Ibis du Rheu doesn't have 10lb in hand on his mark in the 1.55.

Yep. That's his last ride. Absolute magician.

I can only assume the decision was spot on then.

too darn hot running the dante tomorrow i think

outstayed by Telecaster. over a mile always tough for the quicker ones.

Crooks Peak - 2.45 Chepstow 11/2

Wicklow Brave put down yesterday after a bad fall which fractured a shoulder in the US Grand National.

I thought they could fix shoulder fractures nowadays? At least to the point of the horse having a reasonable life even if it couldn't race again.

Well it depends how bad the fracture was really. If they can't stand up on it then that is dangerous for the horse. They need to be able to stand for their bloodflow.

Gold Cup favourite, amongst others, banned from racing due to incredibly dodgy syndicate practices. Top work.

For the Foxhunters at The Festival. Wishing and Hoping. If he gets there in one piece he will be shorter than he is now.

Meant to post the other week, but watched Epatante run the other week (possibly Boxing Day at Kempton) and looks a really good thing for the Champion Hurdle. Very classy runs this season and haven't seen anything that will challenge him yet.

In sad news, it looks like Thistlecrack may not run again

Lord du Mesnil is worth a few quid with 365 @ 25's NRNB for the National Hunt Chase.

It is going to cut up badly looking at those taken out today and with Mullins/Elliott's two framing the market, who'll be ridden by Patrick Mullins and Lisa O'Neill that leaves Codd and Derek O'Connor scouring for a ride as Glenloe, JP's only entry will run elsewhere. The moment one of them confirms their mount, they'll be slashed right in.

Similarly, Willie Mullins only has two entered in the Triumph Hurdle, both of which are so far unraced since coming over from France.

Both are entered up at the weekend and are available at 40/1 NRNB - Hook Up and Burning Victory.

I'd be astonished if Willie wasn't represented at all in the race and you can guarantee they won't be anywhere near 40/1 if they turn up. If
