New FIFA Ranking top 10:
1 Argentina
2 Germany
3 Belgium
4 Colombia
5 Netherlands
6 Brazil
7 Portugal
8 Romania
9 England
10 Wales

How are Holland still 5th? They've been awful for an entire year.

Romania 8th in the world?? WTF

And Portugal up there too? Is that real?

Real insofar as that if it's made up, it's not an Alan Original. Seems insane that Wales have climbed 107 places in less than four years (they were 117 at the end of 2011). The Welsh and Romanians have apparently benefited from playing a grand total of one competitive friendly between the two of them (Romania defeated Denmark, Wales sat on their couch the whole year).

Other notable snippets:

11 Spain
12 Chile
17 Italy
22 France
34 United States
40 Mexico (lowest ever rank)
41 Costa Rica (from 14 following the World Cup)
74 Faroe Islands (previous high was 102)

3 World Cup winners out of the last 5 (Spain, Italy and France) now out of the top 10

Wales can never have been so highly ranked. And France not even in the top 20.

World ranking always takes a massive hit when you spend two years not playing any competitive games while you're waiting to host a tournament. They'd be a lot higher than that if they were involved in the qualifiers given that they (for a change these days) avoided being awful at the last Euros and World Cup.

The system definitely isn't dynamic enough, results shouldn't go back four years when you're calculating where a team should be. Half that would be sufficient.

Micronesia having a great week. 3 games and they have lost them. 30-0, 38-0 and now 46-0.

Dani Alves says that Pep Guardiola was turned down for the Brazilian job in favor of Dunga. Yikes.

Raheem Sterling has asked to be left out of the Liverpool squad going on tour this weekend. He is obviously determined to leave Anfield.

Sorry, I typed it on my i pad, and the auto correct must have changed it.

Swansea City announce that they will subsidise away tickets for the whole of next season. Any adult Swansea fan travelling away will never pay more than £22 for a ticket, Concessions £15 and Kids £10.

Massive fair play to Swansea for that move.

Indeed, and didn't Swansea fans clock up more miles last season than any other in the Permier League?

That's fantastic by Swansea.

Marcell Jansen has decided to retire at 29 after HSV released him. Not injured, just doesn't want to play for anyone else. Mind you if you're so bad that HSV aren't renewing your deal...

Quite a fall for him since the 2010 World Cup.
