Fact is simple sides that struggle in front of goal struggle in the league.
It’s beyond coincidence and now a genuine problem.
Observations so far, we create a lot but not clinical. We make stupid individual errors weekly that are costly.
Fans are bemoaning luck and the behaviour of the opponents, called being savvy and pushing the boundaries.
Brentford didn’t have to do much today to win, well organised and sat in a bit deeper which helped negate the likes of Traore.
We’re currently a flawed exercise, out the 5 games there’s only 2 you’d realistically no expect to get points the rest we should be .

I can think of one good cross from Adama that Raul should have done better with. The rest I thought were shit, still he was the most likely of the forwards to do something.

So you forgot the one that dropped about a foot from the back post with no Wolves player anywhere near it, or the one where both Podence and Trincao ran to the centre of the goal when he'd clipped it over the defenders for a simple tap in at the back post. Throw in the Raul one and there's 3 assists there if we were remotely good at attacking the right, obvious areas.

I'm tired of hearing about people talk about his end product, about time we start looking at our forwards lack of finishing and inability to make intelligent runs.

Adama also came closest to scoring, it's ridiculous the stick he gets.

We d add imply are not clinical enough to compensate for giving any premier league team a one or two goal start. We weren’t last year and we are not so far this. Add to that the worst performances of the season for about 5 of our team and the result was gone at half time despite attempts to be optimistic. In four premier league seasons we still have not worked out how to beat a side with three at the back, playing on the counter . It’s disappointing as you would think the experience and intelligence is in the squad

Ultimately we're not at the point where we can overwhelm teams or outgun them (clearly) so the defence has to hold up to give us a chance of winning, or at the very least picking up points. The complete shambles today basically screwed us.

It felt somewhat inevitable Marcal was going to be called for holding, it's been highlighted that he's doing it 2 straight games now (possibly more, memory's a bit fuzzy) - yet he keeps doing it. Any streetwise striker or whomever he is marking will go down/flail around and make a fuss and get a pen (not saying that happened today - he just flat out hauled Toney (?) down). For one of the most experienced players in the squad it's just flat out idiocy.

RAN is not the best crosser but he has pace, shows for the ball, and tries to (and often does) beat his man, and he's shown he has enough about him to get his head up and pick a man out (see Neves vs Everton last season)

He's still raw, I don't think anyone would argue otherwise, but with a steady head alongside him (e.g. Boly) it should help compensate.

Toney played well but blimey, Coady just still struggles against physical strikers and I don't think that's going to change.

Thought Hwang was bright when he came on, worked hard as well. Not necessarily the flicks etc but he was in and around Raul and looking to make something happen, unlucky Ajer (I think) took that chance off his toe.

Trincao looks markedly less comfortable on the left, which is a bit of a concern when we've switched him over two games running. We seemed to resort to "give it to Traore" which is somewhat understandable...not sure we would have practiced 6 up front in training very often.

Disappointing result but have to say we shot ourselves in the foot a bit, as we did a lot last season. Can't do that while we're struggling up front. Less outright brainfarts/idiocy and I think we'll be ok - that probably means changing the lineup though.

Thought the rest were over hit definitely. I did help my wife briefly in the garden so may have missed one. Overall his product was poor even if he was the best of our attack today.

I didn't give him stick just said I only remember one decent cross. For balance I remember nothing of note from anyone else on the pitch.

We just don't have end product. We have skill and the ability to get ourselves in to good positions frequently, but the final ball is always too long, behind the man, straight into the defence. Our shooting is hilariously bad. Jimenez late header aside, I'd be afraid to take a seat in rows H-Z behind the goal. Our play is generally pretty good except that end product (and defensive errors...Marcal's rugby moment, christ). Very frustrating.

Transfer strategy coming home to roost. Massively unbalanced, too much enigmatic talent and not enough reliable creativity or finishing ability. We haven't got a single defender that would be looked at by the top 7.

Manager has been hung out to dry. At our best we're attractive but wasteful. At our worst we're impossibly generous but toothless

Adama was basically our only attacking outlet today and the only way we were ever going to create anything. Raul is clearly taking time to readjust to playing again, and I noticed he ditched his headband after he missed the header. So clearly (and understandably) there's still residual effects from his injury if not necessarily physical.

Some classic shithousery from Brentford, which was pretty pathetic but not exactly against the pale away from home and protecting a lead (with ten men). We never remotely looked like scoring against 11 and it probably lessened further once they had the man sent off.

Toney was also superb for them, completely dominant against our back three all game.

I’m not having the best we could’ve hoped for is 3 points so far with the current squad the transfer policy is a convenient excuse.
Players and Bruno could’ve done more in every game nor will it be the reason if we’re in trouble come Xmas. Current playing squad is still capable of a 13th place finish thereabouts.

Bruno needs to find a way to get goals out of this team in the next couple of games or I worry that confidence will start to suffer.

If we're going to use Marcal predominantly as an attacker it makes sense to play RAN instead.

Raul looks absolutely miles off unfortunately. The difference between him and Toney was huge.

Their shit housery was frustrating but that's what teams will do.

Trincao looks skillful but I think I'd be starting Podence against teams which sit deep.

Agree with all this.

I think if we'd scored first against them it may have been a relative cakewalk. The penalty had a massive effect on the confidence and composure of both teams, which is a worry when we're a fairly established PL side with a lot of experience in the first XI.
